Decisions to get right
Hedge management and hedge accounting are related but distinct. Accounting-policy decisions require the appropriate finance and audit input; software configuration does not establish qualification for hedge accounting. Supported processes and accounting functionality need to be checked for your SAP edition and release.
Common questions
Does a hedging transaction automatically qualify for hedge accounting?
No. Qualification, documentation and accounting treatment require separate assessment. The SAP design should implement the policy agreed by the responsible finance stakeholders.
What should be ready before configuration?
Representative exposures and instruments, accounting requirements, data sources and the intended control process provide the foundation for a useful design.
